Last year The ROZ Group also handled public engagement for Historic Mount Moriah Cemetery.

Beginning in1855, Mount Moriah served as the final resting place for legions of Philadelphia residents, as well as public figures and soldiers from nearly all the wars of the last 150 years. Unfortunately, the once-majestic cemetery has fallen into extreme disrepair in recent years. Accumulated trash, vandalism, and general neglect have left the site in exceptionally poor condition.

Thankfully, the families of people whose loved ones are buried at Mount Moriah are passionately committed to restoring it to its former grandeur and returning it to a place of respite, solace, and celebration of green space. Paulette Rhone who is leading the charge has been instrumental in ensuring that families and citizens alike commit themselves to the stewardship of this beautiful green space. The ROZ Group joined a collaborative team of consultants, including Bryan Landscape Architects and KSK Architects, in efforts led by Fairmount Ventures to address the future of Mount Moriah and manage public engagement around the project.

After a series of informational interviews and conversations, a public meeting was held in Southwest Philadelphia on December 5, where concerned neighbors, project stakeholders, and representatives from local organizations convened town hall-style to discuss the state, safety, and future of Mount Moriah. Their feedback will inform the creative vision and next steps in this important renovation project.
